In February 2022 I had an opportunity to go work for Florida State University's Office of Admissions as a Graphic Designer/Photographer.
It was one of those opportunities that makes you think "what if" and so I jumped at the chance. There wasn't much time spent onboarding and I spent much of my first month out photographing just about anything and everything. I'd say the 90% of my time was spent on and off campus building a photography database of Florida State University and the Tallahassee area.
The other 10% was spent being tasked at re-branding or giving the Office of Admissions a new image. This began with a simplified logo, color scheme (mainly gradients) and of course the photography I had shot.
The main project that I created for the office was a recruitment road piece booklet. This booklet is used by FSU's recruiters out on the road to provide a small glimpse of what the university offers.
This turned into a two-person team project with my colleague being the wordsmith and myself giving the piece the initial feel. It basically turned into a photobook featuring much of my photography.
I'm not a big fan of using so many gradients, but it turned out to be a much better look than previous designs created in the past.
In the end I was offered my previous position with the State of Florida, which came with a great bonus. Those 5 months spent at FSU defiantly allowed me to flex and expand my photography skillset.
